Sure have been, and it’s fine with me. I attribute it to the fact that I can’t focus on something long enough to write a legitimate post. In fact, I’m only posting this just to get something new up. But, for the record, I do have good worthwhile posts coming in the near future.

Well, we finally dropped OVC on Monday. Things went pretty smoothly. The landing page is up at OctobersVeryCold.com w/ player and links to HipHopLeak.Net to download. The only hitch has been that the “Digg” button on the landing page hasn’t worked like we hoped it would, but oh well….This tape was highly anticipated amongst our friends, who have heard previews while it’s been coming together, and right off the bat, everyone in my direct network is raving. Things started well last week when the first track we threw out got posted on the biggest DJ record pool in the world, DJCity:

That capped of what was already 10k + downloads from blogs all over the place before dropping the whole mixtape on Monday. We ended the day yesterday with the tape getting posted on MixtapeMaestro.com, which happens to be a Hype Machine blog. In case you aren’t a super trendy person whose really into music, specially hot new indy music and mashups.. Hypem.com is a music blog aggregate. It’s an algorithm that scans a list of cool ass blogs for the tracks they are posting. It then posts them on Hypem.com, where said *new indy music junkies* can listen, and ‘favorite’ tracks they like. MixtapeMaestro.com posted the mixtape, along with a couple of their favorite tracks from it “Forever La Vida” and “Money To Fix”, which are now on Hype Machine:

At the time of this post, Forever La Vida has 184 ‘favorites’, and is #30 on the charts.

Allright, so, on Monday I picked up one of the coolest devices I’ve ever seen earlier this week, and i thought id show and explain why.

Yes, it is an iPad, but let’s talk about what it really is and why I made the investment. Imagine a touch screen, completely customizable, and wireless MIDI controller. Now, imagine that, with a $525 price tag on it(16gb WiFi iPad, $5 iPad/iPhone App, and $20 for the software). That’s CRAZY. So, all the other coolness in this thing aside, this is a piece of gear that I cant afford not to have. As far as my live use is concerned… I don’t see why I would ever have to buy another controller. Not to mention the juice that incorporating a touch screen into my sets has.

Over the years, I have used 4 or 5 different midi controllers in my sets to control software functions like cue’s, looping, effects, drops, and more. They’ve all gotten the job done, some much better than others, and none have ever come close to being exactly what i want and need. The one I’ve used most is the Akai MPD 24(pictured). I love the pads on it as buttons, and the knobs and faders work all right for effects… But i don’t use effects a whole lot, and I attribute this to the fact that i have never had very good control over them.

A while ago i was plotting to pick up a MIDI hardware interface, a bunch of buttons and knobs, and build a controller exactly to my specifications in order to finally have the control i wanted. Enter the iPad! With the ipad and the help of some 3rd party software, I am able to create exactly the controller I want, on a touch screen interface in an hour or two. But wait, I can also go back and change it after I try it and decide some adjustments are in order. But wait, let’s not act like I’m limited to using the iPad as just one controller. I can create pretty much as many different custom layouts as i want, and switch between several of them on the fly in my sets.

With the iPad Apps editor software, you literally right click and add whatever kind of control you want to wherever you want it to the iPads screen. Were talking about touch knobs, faders, buttons, toggles, etc in whatever size and color you want. I can set it up for any range of functionality.. From full control and effectively wireless mixing, etc, to only using it for sample drops, or even to create an unlabeled, alien sorta interface where only I could know what im really doing.

I’m gonna follow this up with a post and video about how to set all up, if i dare share…

Oh, and this was all written on my iPad on the way to Park City on the plane. The rest of the functionality of it is pretty tits too

Gizmodo, a gadget/cool stuff website got ahold of it, and they have MAJOR reason to believe it really is the next iPhone. On top of that, Apple confirms that a prototype has been lost, and they are VERY interested in getting it back. Check out all the info and full article here.

This is hilarious. Spotted it thanks to @hrclightbright and it is GOLD. Told ya so momma.

A couple years ago, I went in for an analysis. After 3 hours of random little exercises and whatnot, the doctor said, “Well, you’re very intelligent, and you obviously have ADD.” WORD SON! Apparently on one exercise, I completed it in like 20 moves, when it could be done in 5. I did it fast… but with no planning or foresight. Enter: Vyvanse. I take a 30mg, 12 hour Vyvanse every morning, and whole heartedly believe in better living through chemistry. Every once in a while I like to take a break from it to analyze how much my grind and work ethic relies on this drug. Hopefully not much at all right? I’ve gone literally months without it at times, and the last week or two. What I’ve found is that not taking it allows me to drift and relax and be unfocused alot more. I can still get shit done and do what I do, but if I’m not super directed, I can definitely be unproductive all day. That’s what happened last week. I went off my meds for a while, and I was fine… then THE SUN CAME OUT. The weather was beautiful all week. I spent so much time just relaxing and driving around with the windows down. It was great, believe that… but this dudes got goals to achieve n shit!

Anyway, not much more for now, but as I said before… I am a firm supporter of better living through chemistry!
