I wrote this up as a submission to a blog I’m interested in contributing on, and as it sat there in my email, I figured I might as well publish it aswell. As far as genre, it goes several places and only 2 of the 5 are really Hip Hop.. this is for music people, not hip hop heads. Hit the jump for some cool music you might not be familiar with.

A-Trak ft. Cyhi Da Prynce – Ray Ban Vision

This was released last month in the midst of Cyhi hitting the mainstream (as far as blogs are concerned) and is part of A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Vol. 1 compilation. The quirky production has a grimey feel to it, and it’s laced with some cool ass lyrics… A friend played it in his set the other night and I’ve had it on repeat since. A-Trak’s electronic production style applied to a hiphop instrumental is just funky.

Gavin – Summer In Love

Upbeat, summertime, pop track. In my opinion, it’s hard not to like. The vocals have a light uplifting feel and the arrangement keeps it interesting all the way through.

Bluey Robinson – I Know

Bluey gets the co-sign from Ryan Leslie, as well as the production on this track. It’s got Blues influences, but ultimately is a pop record hailing from the UK. I really like his presence vocally, I wish I had found this earlier cuz it’s a great, ballad-esc track. Looking forward to more from him.

Drake & Coldplay ft. Silver Medallion & Page – The Fly Scientist (Chi Duly OVC Mix)

The “artist” on this one is kind of confusing. This is part of a fantastic “mashup” mixtape produced by Chi Duly. He heavily sampled coldplay on the production, and then blended it with Drake acapellas. This track has the only features on the project from Page(from the original record) and Silver Medallion. It hit #1 on the hypemachine charts 3 times. I especially like the Page verse cuz of the contrast between his his deep vocals and the light melodic piano.

Professor Green – I Need You Tonight (Gramophonedzie Remix)

I’m not familiar with Professor Green, but this remix prompted me to check him out. He samples an INXS track from the 80′s by the same name, and this remix removed the rap vocals from the Prof’s song, and turned it into a true electronic dance track. The synth’s in this are addicting, and the vocals are almost.. eerie? I dunno, it’s a heat rock.

This is a completely outrageous viral video, mash up, dance remix, funny thing. Audio and Video produced by the dudes @ChiDuly, @djcflo, and @DJDonk. Assuming you’re familiar with each of these videos from YouTube.. this is hilarious. What’s more… Ashton Kutcher tweeted it earlier today to his 5.5 million followers!

As a DJ I grew up spoiled and connected with automatic gigs. Finally, I moved, and I’ve been needing something that simply says “yo, look, I can spin records.” I’ve been needing to do this forever, and I finally tackled the prospect of representing what I do in the booth in a relatively short time. It’s not perfect if you know what you’re listening to, slips off a time or two, but gah damn it’s hot in my house, and I needed to get this shit done!

I made this mashup a longgg time ago by chopping pieces from Fly Away up and creating an instrumental I just put it up on YouTube a week ago. It’s gotten 700 plays in that one week, which kicks ass. I uploaded it to the hiphopleak.net YouTube instead of my own.. might have to change that. Anyway, iBlog.

This is a little blend I made last weekend. The beat from Owl City’s “Fireflies” track is CRAZY, and this needed to happen.
